If you have a mild case of acne, you may be able to achieve results without medication. Here are some helpful hints: - Wash with lukewarm water.
- Use a mild cleanser or an antibacterial lotion that contains benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid.
- Avoid abrasive soap, facial scrub, toner, astringent, and masks.
- Don't use a washcloth or puff and don't scrub your skin.
- Don't wash more than twice a day.
- Never pop, squeeze, or pick acne.
- Don't use skincare, makeup, or hair care products unless they're oil-free.
Also, ask your doctor about vitamin supplements like these that may help you avoid a reoccurrence: - Vitamin A to help reduce oil
- Zinc to reduce inflammation, redness and swelling
- Beta Carotene to lessen susceptibility to infections.
If you don't get results by following the tips described in this article, you should probably see a dermatologist who can suggest another course of treatment.
